| | Thanks so much for stopping by! :)
For those of you who know me and Justin, I'm sure you know we've been through a lot together. We are so excited about getting married! We are currently having the opportunity to learn more about starting a Christian marriage through our church Sunday school class at EUMC. We have most essential things planned: wedding party, colors, wedding dress, flowers, venue, caterer, cake, DJ, etc. However, on the weekends, we are still trying to work on things to make sure that everything falls into place. Feel free to browse the website and check out our honeymoon registry! We have never had the opportunity to travel so we are thrilled to go to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for our honeymoon!!! <3 | | Luckily for us, we feel like we have known each other forever. However, like most couples, I still find out new things about him each day. We met at South Johnston High School when I was a Junior and he was a Senior. At the time, we were not ready for a relationship, but we became great friends! Of all the classes, we had Spanish together with Mrs. Johns. She insisted we have hispanic names so Justino (Justin) and Adela (Alexa) were blessed to learn a new language together. Let's just say Mrs. Johns never liked Justino and Adela was teacher's pet :/ Sorry Justino! Time passed after spanish class, and we never really spent too much quality time together just a "hey" here or there. Over time, Justin graduated, and I officially became a senior. The summer before my senior year, Justin stayed on my mind a lot. So much so that I actually almost went through with a tee time I'd scheduled while he was working at Reedy Creek golf course. By the way, I am very far away from being a golf player. Cruising the streets of Benson was something we both shared that summer. The more that I saw him, the more I really enjoyed his company. My friend Ashley and I would scope him out on a daily basis. Somewhere in between the cruising and conversations on Justin's home phone (he didn't own a cell phone), we decided to go on our first date. He invited me to go fishing which was right up my alley! I outfished him... obviously, and I will never let him live that down. We spent lots of time together, just laughing and getting to know each other better. He would bring me lunch to high school while he was going to JCC, and we truly fell in love. I accidentally told him that I loved him first - oops! However, I feel proud that I actually laid my heart on the line for the first time. After dating for three years, we were best friends. However, like most relationships, we went through our trials. We broke up for two solid years. This was without speaking or seeing each other which was really tough. During our break up, we did run into each other. He finished at JCC a semester before I did. The fall of my first semester at NC State, we ran into each other at the tunnel. I mean we literally bumped into each other. We said nothing, and it was clear that it was that awkward rememberence of all the things we had a year ago. A year after that, I randomly facebooked chatted him one day. It was not pre-planned, just a regular weird conversation. Of all things, I decided to ask him who he was going to vote for in the upcoming NCSU class President election. This was not one of my best moves per-say. Looking back now, I don't regret it though. It sparked a conversation that led up to now. We talked several times and finally decided to see each other. I was never more nervous in my life to talk to him, but when I did, it was as if nothing changed. We talked for hours and attempted to catch up from lost time. We continued school and spent nights studying in DH Hill or the Mann Building on campus. We fell in love all over again. The love that we have for each other is truly rare. He is my best friend and the one and only love of my life. We cannot wait to share our lives together and with our family and friends by our side. | | After dating for six years, the conversation of marriage came up several times. We talked about general things like waiting until we were out of college, had jobs, and were able to do all things that we wanted for our future together. No matter how pre-planned you can be, things occur according to God's plan. Through the tornado, we found true safety with each other and with our life together with the Lord. We prayed about the best things for our future, and we went ring shopping right after everything hit rock bottom. We realized more so than ever how important life is, and how thankful we are for each other. A year after, Justin decided it was the right time. I had been working at McGee's Middle as a math teacher for almost two years, and Justin had a job at Volkert Engineering. I was just overcoming a cold one weekend in May, and ran out of medicine. Meanwhile, Justin had the ring for several weeks and had been researching for a long time. We went to Carlie C's to get medicine where my dad was, and Justin asked him for permission to marry me. The same night, he also asked my step-dad. Coming home, I decided to take a bubble bath and go to bed for church. He kept bothering me to hurry up and get ready. I was exhausted, but he insisted on staying up. He had every light in the house on... literally. I was super tired and was ready for bed so I started cutting the lights off. He walked back through the house, and he cut on the lights. I was a little irritated and confused as he got on one knee with a cute speech about how much he loved me. I wish I remembered his words, but I was so shocked that I didn't even hear him ask me to marry him so he had to ask again. Without hesitation, I said "of course". As someone who is not easily fooled, he got me! I was so excited then, and I am even more excited now about our future together! | | We plan on getting married Saturday, April 6th, 2013 with our closest friends and family. We will be exchanging vows in the garden at the Landmark and having a reception immediately afterwards. Invitations will be coming towards the end of February so please make sure you RSVP as soon as you can! We look forward to seeing you there!!! :)
